The 1998 Alumni Association of the University of Cape Coast has performed a sod-cutting ceremony to commence the installation of ten 10 new solar streetlights on campus.
The project which is estimated to cost GH¢28, 000 is expected to be completed by August this year.
The installations will be done from the Casely Hayford Hall junction to the School of Development Studies.
A member of the association and Dean of Students at the Garden City University, Kumasi, Madam Crystal Osei Mensah, said the project will kick start the numerous support the association would give to the university.
The Dean, School of Educational Foundation, UCC and an alumni, Professor Eric Nyarko Sampson, who was grateful for the gesture also noted that the move by the ‘98 alumni group would encourage other year groups to emulate.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Professor Livingstone Sam Amoah said the laudable act by the year group comes handy.
